WTCW Projects

The government of the Netherlands finances natural gas revenues projects with the goal of strengthening the knowledge infrastructure. Another goal of the projects is to benefit the diffusion of knowledge, as well as to utilise the potential of the knowledge and ecotechnologies.

In 1998, WTCW submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Economic Affairs to obtain a subsidy. The next year, WTCW was awarded a substantial subsidy for four projects.

Biotechnology and Bioinformatics
Biodiversity and Environment
Virtual Laboratory

These projects are in keeping with the government's strategic spearheads: the implementation of ICT and bio- and ecotechnology. They are important growth-sectors in the economy. Moreover, these projects have a large vested interest in good infrastructure that is reinforced by, among others, a local Giganetwork.
